Condolences – Dot White

It is with great sadness we inform our members of the loss of Dot White, who passed away on Tuesday 21st May. Dot was a Life Member of Netball Waitakere, and Hustlers Netball Club. Dot gave so much to our sport over the years and was the driving force alongside Betty Wells in establishing netball on the site we now know as Netball Waitakere.

Dot was the founding member of Hobsonville Hustlers Netball Club – now Hustlers and was the main organiser of their 25th Jubilee. Like all dedicated netties she also coached and umpired.

Dot, with Betty, lobbied Council endlessly to obtain land for the first set of courts at Te Pai Place, and were instrumental in conceiving, fundraising and project managing the first pavilion on our site. Her time on the Executive Committee was extensive and she held the role of President from 1980-1982.

Henderson Waitemata Netball was originally a sub-association, such was the structure of Netball in those days. Dot was the driving force in advocating for direct affiliation to Netball NZ creating the foundation for what we now enjoy as Netball Waitakere.

Dot was a dedicated and passionate volunteer always advocating for netball in West Auckland and a Life Member to whom our Centre will be forever indebted. We offer our sincere condolences to Graham, Deann and Clinton, and the wider White whanau.

Dot’s service will be held at Morrisons Funeral Home on Saturday 25th May at 1pm, followed by refreshments at Swanson RSA.
