Since 1997 Sport Waitakere has proudly hosted the Sporting Excellence Awards. The Trusts Sport Waitākere Excellence Awards are the premier sports awards for West Auckland, which acknowledge the wonderful sporting achievements of West Auckland athletes and shines a light on those heroes who contribute to the sporting community behind the scenes.

Sport Waitākere CEO, Lynette Adams said “The Sporting Excellence Awards continues to grow each year, with all nominations growing in number and diversity. We are pleased to announce this year’s finalists and congratulate them all on their sporting achievements.”

It was a very successful night for Netball Waitakere with 4/6 nominees winning their category....

- Youth Leadership in Sport Award- Jesscia McCarthy, Waitakere College

- Secondary School Team of the Year- Avondale College

- Secondary School Player of the Year- Grace Nweke

- Team of the Year- Netball Waitakere U17/1 Representative Team

Other finalists included...

- Club of the Year- Vipers Netball Club

- Administrator of The Year- Jacqui Barclay

Our Service Award Holder and long time member of Netball Waitakere, Eleanor Simmons was also recognised for her dedication and work within netball with a sporting acknowledgement award.
